GTKAWF – Chapter 12.1

Sympathy from the whole network (1)

Sheng Qiao started at Huo Xi’s profile picture. The portrait had been taken the first time he had stood on stage when he had first debuted. His fans usually said he was a nostalgic person.
She had never thought he would help her. They were not familiar with each other even if she liked him beyond hope. To him, she was just the annoying woman that kept roping him in scandals. Why would he help? Didn’t he know how much trouble he could get in?

Sheng Qiao didn’t even take the time to feel moved and was immediately anxious and angry. She called Huo Xi.
The phone might still have been in his hand as he answered rather quickly.
“Hello?”
“Huo Xi, don’t intervene! I can deal with it by myself. Please delete Weibo!”
There was silence on the other end.
Sheng Qiao somewhat panicked again: “For real, you don’t have to worry about it, I can deal with it on my own. You are from the same agency, what are they going to do to you? What if they start bullying you? You should delete your Weibo and let Brother Bao explain…”
Before she could finish speaking, Huo Xi interrupted her: “I have already terminated my contract.”
Sheng Qiao was taken aback: “What?”
“The termination fee has already been paid. I am setting up my own studio and the official announcement will be made at the end of the first concert. Last time, the people you saw with me at Xifeng Shui Pavilion were my new partners.”
His voice sounded like he was smiling, lighter than ever: “So you don’t have to worry about anyone bullying me.”
Sheng Qiao was a little embarrassed: “I…”
Huo Xi changed the subject: “Who hired the lawyer? Do you need me to recommend one?”
“No, I found someone a long time ago. He’s someone I trust.”
“That’s good. I’m hanging up.”
“Huo Xi!” she stopped him in a hurry, coughed twice and whispered: “Thank you.”
“It was nothing.” A busy tone was heard from the phone.

It took Sheng Qiao a long time to recover and she slapped her cheeks suddenly. With the support of her idol, she felt more powerful than ever and had a lot to do! This battle had just begun.

Qiao Yu sued and Xingyao Media responded. The two parties quickly entered the legal process and Sheng Qiao had to agree to go to court several times. Qiao Yu was here to help her and she had nothing to worry about.
It was during that time that she met Gao Meiling who looked like she wanted to kill her but with a proud expression somehow.

Currently, the public opinion was still in favor of Xingyao Media. After all, they had money to buy water armies and get rid of comments they did not want to see. Several major media platforms had also cooperated with them and had withdrawn hot searches and switched topics. Sheng Qiao was not in a position of force alone and even with Huo Xi speaking up for her, it was not enough to reverse the already bad impression netizens had of her.

Someone had also made an account called {Sheng Qiao’s scandal videos collection} and it had become popular right off the bat. Because the original Sheng Miao had not been the brightest, she had done a lot of stupid, mindless things. Nowadays, it was just too easy to discredit someone as long as people were willing to spend money.

Xingyao Media’s lawyer had said the event would be resolved before the end of the lawsuit. The contract did not have any loopholes that went against free man’s will and Sheng Qiao had hired the notoriously known Qiao Yu. They did not know how she could afford his fees with only 20,000 yuan a month.

Now that the result was more or less obvious, it was better to do nothing and wait than immediately terminate the contract.
How fast was the law? After half a year, the heat would have dropped and there would be endless new scandals in the industry. Who would remember what had happened back then and no one would remember Sheng Qiao; the only thought would probably be “Oh, that annoying Sheng Qiao.”

Gao Meiling had a good hand and she knew about it. But not even two days later, Sheng Qiao published a recording on Weibo.

——  “Sheng Qiao, do you think you could stay in the business if you did this?”

“It’s not that big of a deal, I don’t need to be a star. The world is so big, why should I starve to death?”

“Xiao Qiao. Even if you don’t want to, you still have to do it, don’t you?”

“Don’t look at me like that. If I had not spent three millions to rescue you from loan sharks, these photos would already have been uploaded on the Internet. If you want to blame someone, you can only blame your gambling father.”

“Yes, this contract is not fair but if it weren’t for this contract, your handicapped mother would have joined your father to the grave. Twenty thousand yuan, is it really too little? No it isn’t, just look at our current society. How many people exhaust themselves every month and are still unable to learn that much?”

“I gave you a stable and high paying job, got rid of your nightmare and the shadow of your past. Xiao Qiao, you should thank me instead. You try to compare yourself to other celebrities in the business, but really, what do you have? You have no background, no education and you don’t even have an IQ. You’re just an hypocritical cute and silly princess. Apart from your face, you have nothing.”

“So, keep on listening to Sister Gao like in the past. Be obedient and don’t think about running away. If you are that unhappy so be it. You will have a salary increase next month. You will get 30,000 yuan, that’s very good.”

“By the way, you won’t have to join the set until tomorrow. Isn’t Sister Gao being good to you today? You can rest this afternoon and think about where you stand. I will let Fang Bai pick you up tomorrow morning.”

“Sheng Qiao, disobedient children do not end well.” —— At the end of the recording, people could hear Sheng Qiao gasp violently. She had then added in a trembling voice to herself: “Qiao Qiao, it’s going to be alright. Breathe, just breathe and let’s find a solution. You need to calm down, everything is okay.”
